When containerized cargo is damaged, the box itself may provide important evidence. Dents, holes, door distortion, damaged seals, floor condition or signs of water ingress can help establish what should be examined further.
A container survey is strongest when the container number, seal details, cargo condition and opening circumstances are recorded together rather than as separate, disconnected observations.
